How did Italy look like in 1796?
Italy was not a one piece of country like we know it today.  There were Kingdoms, States, Republic and Duchies. Kingdom of Sicily was the biggest part of the Italian Peninsula, while the Republic of Venice was the wealthiest among all. 

These were the countries before the Italian unification :  Kingdom of Sardinia, Republic of Genoa, Republic of Venice, Grand Duchy of Tuscany, Papal States, Republic of Ragusa, Duchy of Modena, Republic of Lucca, Duchy of Parma, Bishopric of Trent

This is Roman Empire after 285 A.D The Empire was divided East-West. Western Provinces :  Diocese of Britain, Diocese of Gaul, Diocese of Spain, Diocese of Italy , Africa and Rome. East Roman's Provinces :  Diocese of Dacia, Dioese of Thrace, Egypt , Asia, Diocese of Pontus and Macedonia Ancient Circle Stones in Scotland. The Callanish Stones  are an arrangement of standing stones placed in a cruciform pattern with a central stone circle. They were erected in the late Neolithic era, and were a focus for ritual activity during the Bronze Age. They are near the village of Callanish on the west coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland

China The Cake Of The Kings and Emperors

Once upon a time China was the cake of the Kings and Emperors An epic political cartoon about China from 1898. A pastry represents and is being divided between Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, William II of Germany, Nicholas II of Russia ,  the French Marianne and a samurai representing Japan, carefully contemplating which pieces to take. ( The cartoon was published in France ) A stereotypical Qing official throws up his hands to try and stop them, but is powerless. It is meant to be a figurative representation of the Imperialist tendencies of these nations towards China during the decade. Historical Map of The Crusades, Routes and The Cities The First Crusade  (1096-1099) started from two different main gathering locations. First one was in France . They marched through Rome, Bari, Greece, Constantinople (Istanbul) and Antioch. The second was in Germany.  The Second Crusade (1147-1150)   started in north of Italy . They marched through Austria, Hungary, Belgrade, Sofia and  Constantinople. They changed the direction from that point. Nobody was expecting it though.  The Third Crusade (1189-1192) started from Marseille and Genoa. They sailed the entire Mediterranean Sea (through Sicily, Rhodes, Cyprus and arrived in Jerusalem. The Fourth Crusade (1202-1204) the planned route was a bit complicated.
